R.A.A.G. takes over as DXCC Check Point from A.R.R.L. for Greece
published 10 Apr 2005
By Κλεάνθης Σακκαλής, SV1JG

This article means to inform all interested hams in  DXing who desire to obtain a diploma from DXCC offered by the A.R.R.L.

R.A.A.G.  represented by the president  SV 1 IW after contacting the ARRL , managed to be announced as QSL card checking point  for DXCC diplomas . After certain formalities and a successful test from  ARRL taken by the author , our country is an official checkpoint for DXCC .

The biggest advantage of this successful result is that all applicants for the  ARRL diplomas should no more send their QSL cards to the States with any danger that this would invoke. They will just have to fulfill an application form that has to be checked and signed by the Checker .

All cards to be accepted for checking should be:

  • in all countries in the  DXCC list , except those deleted,
  • in all bands except 160 M ,
  • in the same country according to DXCC list ,
  • during the last 10 years. If checking is done at 2005, cards to be valid should have dates after 1st Jan 1995.

If you have contacts at 160 m or with deleted countries or older than a 10 years period, they should send the cards directly to ARRL .

D.X.C.C. diplomas that are valid for checking :

  • Mixed / Phone / CW / RTTY / Satellite
  • 80m / 40m / 30m / 20m / 17m / 15m / 12m / 10m / 6m / 2m
  • 5BDXCC

All interested hams should send an envelope to :

R.A.A.G.
Att. DXCC Card Checker
PO BOX. 3564, 102 10 Athens

Also via prior telephone verification they can bring the cards to the R.A.A.G. office. Cards should be accompanied with:

  • an application ( DXCC Award Application ) with full details: name , surname , callsign , address, diploma concerned, number of qsl card, qsos accomplished etc
  • a document by  ARRL ( DXCC Record Sheet ) filled with all information needed about the qsos, that should be shorted firstly by Band and then by Mode . Warning: last column should contain the country name and not the prefix ! Cards with multiple qsos should be put at the end of the list. If you don't wish to have some qsos checked in a qsl cards just don't include it in the list.

The application  ( DXCC Award Application ) and the document ( DXCC Record Sheet ) can be obtained by  ARRL at www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc in  plain text format or PDF or by the R.A.A.G. web page in the introductory page on the right at useful files/ «Χρήσιμα Αρχεία»
